Kama brings endless energy and enthusiasm to her role as Director in Toronto. Within the clinic, she can be found doing assessments, acting as a Team Leader, and developing our remedial programs. Her work as a consultant takes her out of the clinic and into schools, where she supports classroom teachers trained in our programs.
Kama is passionate in all areas of her work and motivates everyone with whom she collaborates. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics and Psychology from the University of Calgary and has been with The Reading Foundation since 1991.
Outside of work, Kama enjoys culinary adventures and is an expert restaurant recommender. She is also an architecture/interior design enthusiast and well-versed in Lego thanks to her lovely son.
Our Assistant Director, Devan is the ultimate multi-tasker. In addition to Team Leader duties, she trains internally and externally, organizes the weekly schedule, and develops new programs. Devan oversees and mentors new clinicians through their training and early months with students. Dedicated to each of the many areas of her job, she is an excellent role model for staff and students. Devan has a Bachelor of Arts in Linguistics from the University of Calgary and has worked for The Reading Foundation since 1999. Devan has also volunteered for Canadian Women for Women in Afghanistan since 2007. When she isn’t working or volunteering, she enjoys traveling, reading, and almost every mountain activity. She is the proud partner of the Commanding Officer of the Calgary Highlanders.
As Assistant Director at the Toronto clinic, Darian puts her efficiency and organization to good use, planning and personalizing each of her students’ remediation programs. Darian’s analytical nature and attention to detail enable her to effectively adapt our programs to meet the individual needs of every student. She joined The Reading Foundation as a clinician in 2012 while completing her Bachelor of Arts in Speech Sciences at the University of British Columbia. When she isn’t at work, Darian is passionate about playing soccer and spending time outdoors.
Toronto’s Office Coordinator, Megan is as compassionate as she is energetic. As a liaison between our clients, Team Leaders, and staff members, Megan assists in organizing and personalizing each student’s experience with us. In her work as a clinician, she forms strong and lasting bonds with her students. Hours with Megan are joyful, as well as productive as she is determined to help students get the most out of their time at The Reading Foundation. Megan has worked for The Reading Foundation since 2014 and, in her free time, can be found enthusiastically singing whatever song she has stuck in her head and making memories with people she loves.
Shanna has been with the Toronto clinic from the moment its doors opened! With a welcoming smile, and comforting personality, she makes both students and parents alike feel supported. As a Team Leader and Clinician, her keen eye for detail, and compassionate approach, allow her to individualize and deliver our programs to best fit any student’s educational profile. When Shanna isn’t working with students you can find her in our office answering questions and creating our weekly schedule. She has a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology from Ryerson University. In Shanna’s personal time, her love of travel has taken her on amazing adventures to destinations including Egypt, Italy, and Spain!
Barbara joined the Reading Foundation eager to help students learn. Her passion for acquiring new information translates into shared enthusiam for learning throughout every hour she spends with a student. Now, as a Team Leader, Barbara carefully tailors every students' program to help them thrive and increase their self confidence. Her quiet demeanor and warm conversational skills provide an inviting atmosphere when working with students, and meeting with parents. Barbara has a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Sociology and Psychology. When she isn't at the Reading Foundation, Barbara is enjoying time with her family.
