"I can't help feeling the worst is finally over. I think Cheryl can only get better and better."
Our remedial programs are different from traditional tutoring both in approach and delivery.
The programs are more like educational therapy than tutoring. They are not based on a particular grade level or curriculum. We work on the underlying processes that affect progress with reading, writing, and math, whatever the academic requirements of the learner.
Students are first assessed for their needs. If they enter the program, they receive one-to-one instruction in intensive immersions of four hours daily, either mornings or afternoons. The average length of stay for each program is four weeks (80 hours). During this time, students can make very significant gains in basic processes. Post-testing is done to determine progress and future needs. If students come during the school year, they could be missing some school time. However, schools are usually cooperative over this issue as learning to read is a high priority. A modified routine is available for students who cannot miss school time.
