"The Reading Foundation constantly strives to bring students the latest and best in intervention practices."

The Reading Foundation was started in Calgary in 1990 and Vancouver in 1994, by Dr. Steve Truch, a well-known learning specialist and former school teacher. In their history, the Calgary and Vancouver clinics have successfully worked with thousands of students from across North America with severe reading and math problems.

In the mid-eighties, Dr. Truch became aware of the exciting research that was developing in the area of remedial reading. For the first time, reading research was reporting a causal connection between phonological awareness and learning to read and spell. Dr. Truch became intrigued and followed up by becoming trained in the Lindamood-Bell clinic in California. He learned the Lindamood Phoneme Sequencing Program and the Visualizing and Verbalizing Program and was impressed by the Lindamood model. He subsequently started a similar clinic in Calgary, which was the first of its kind in Canada.

Since then, The Reading Foundation staff has been trained in other basic reading programs. The Reading Foundation has created its own reading program, Discover Reading©, which complements the Discover Math® Program. The depth and breadth of the clinical experience at The Reading Foundation gives it a unique standing among clinics of its kind anywhere in North America.

The Reading Foundation constantly strives to bring students the latest and best in intervention practices.
