Making Literacy Support More Accessible: Using AFU & Jordan’s Principle at The Reading Foundation
At The Reading Foundation, we’ve always believed that every child deserves the opportunity to thrive—regardless of diagnosis, background, or financial situation. That’s why we’re proud to support families in British Columbia who are eligible for Autism Funding Unit (AFU) and Jordan’s Principle resources.
📘 Autism Funding Unit (AFU) in BC
Families with a child diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) may receive:
- Up to $22,000/year for children under 6
- Up to $6,000/year for children and youth ages 6 to 18
This funding can be used for individualized, one-to-one reading, writing, math, and comprehension support at our Vancouver clinic—services that are backed by research and tailored to each learner’s needs.
Using AFU funding at The Reading Foundation is simple:
- Enroll through our standard process.
- Submit a quote from us, your child’s assessment (if applicable), and the Request to Pay form to AFU.
- Once approved, we direct bill—no upfront payment required.
💡 Make sure to confirm we’re listed as a Registered Service Provider or contact us—we’re happy to help guide you.

🌿 Jordan’s Principle for First Nations Families
Jordan’s Principle ensures First Nations children across Canada receive timely access to the services they need—including educational support. This can include literacy and learning intervention at The Reading Foundation.
To apply, families typically provide:
- A letter of request
- The student’s info and proof of status
- A quote and report showing need
Once approved, we’ll handle billing directly—making the process smooth and stress-free for families.
If you think your child may qualify for either of these supports, or you need help navigating the process, please reach out our Vancouver clinic. We’re here to help you every step of the way—because learning should never be out of reach.
